A Memory Of Light

Haven't posted here in a while. But finishing the Wheel of Time series seemed like a moment worthy of putting up a post.

Often times in fantasy novels the last 10% or so of the book will be the big final battle scene. Well in this case since this was book #14 they were able to dedicate a large portion of the 900 pages to a non-stop battle scene. Normally that would just seem crazy, but having built the characters and the world so completely already it actually worked. If anything I think there could have been more. It did end up feeling very different from the previous books, but I think that is fair. Of course if this would have moved at the pace of the previous books it would have taken another 14 books to finish.

Just looked up Hinderstap to figure out the trick Mat pulled. Hm, I wonder how many other references to the previous books that I missed.

Well before it fully hits me that the series is really over and that I won't be seeing those characters again, I'll download the latest Game of Thrones book to try to distract myself. Gar - I had been told that book 6 of Song of Ice and Fire had come out. Now that I realize that's not true I need to find another way to distract myself for a while.
